I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. ― Marilyn Monroe
From The Mirror Obscura, where poet and blogger KB goes on to say…
We do not give enough credence to this snippet of looking at the world. The older I become and the more I learn the more I feel that things do happen for a reason. But it is the reason that is born out of necessity. Gradually, through one experience and epiphany after another we come to understand that after all the Christmas presents and birthday cards and phone calls from friends, we are very alone in the world, intrinsically naked and standing in a downpour of words telling us that decision is simply picking from a myriad of possibilities. At first the thought is frightening. We hesitate lest we chose wrong. As we stand there frozen we find ourselves where Prufrock stands now, for eternity. Who we are and who we will be, is played out in an instant when we make the most important choice–to choose or not choose; to do, or not do; to become something new, or remain the same. For myself, knowing I will stand here many more times, I make the choice to choose the world and though living through all its faults and foibles, live in it, but making it know I am within it, roaring my opposition to its laws of science and gravity. >KB
